Booking & paying
How soon can I speak to someone?
On a weekday, the median wait is eighteen minutes. Mornings are busiest, Saturdays are quietest. If nothing is free within the hour we will say so on the booking screen rather than let you sit and wait.
Do I need an appointment, or can I just call?
Either. Book a slot online, or ring 0800 300 4400 and Halima will book it with you in about three minutes. Therapy is appointment-only and usually five days ahead.
How do I pay, and when?
Before the call, by card, bank transfer or USSD. Nothing is ever charged afterwards and there is no subscription. Every price is published on the services page.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, in full, if you cancel more than two hours ahead, if we miss your slot, or if the doctor decides in the call that you need to be seen in person. If you miss the slot yourself we rebook you once at no charge. Refunds reach your bank in two to five working days.
Do you take HMO or insurance?
Not yet. We are too small to carry the claims administration, so everything is paid per visit. We will issue a receipt with our RC number and the doctor's folio number, which most HMOs accept for reimbursement — check with yours first.
The consultation
Are your doctors real, licensed doctors?
Yes. All fourteen hold a current MDCN licence and we re-check the register every year. Names and specialties are on the About us page; folio numbers are on your confirmation email, or we will read one out over the phone before you book.
Do I need to download an app?
No. The call opens in your browser from a link we send by SMS. Chrome and Safari both work. There is no Beta-Lyfe app, and anything claiming to be one is not us.
What if my network is bad?
The doctor will switch off video and continue on audio, then move to a WhatsApp call and finally an ordinary phone call if it comes to that. None of these cost extra. A consultation that is cut short before ten minutes is refunded or rebooked.
Can I book for my mother, or for a child?
Yes. For an adult, they need to be on the call and able to consent. For a child under 12 a parent or guardian must be present for the whole consultation — and that is a paediatric booking, at ₦4,500.
Can I see the same doctor again?
Usually. Ask when you book and we will hold a slot with them, which may mean waiting a day or two. For long-term conditions we try to keep you with one GP as a matter of course.
Prescriptions, labs & records
Will I definitely get a prescription?
Only if you need one. About a fifth of our consultations end with rest, fluids and a plan rather than medicine. Paying for the visit buys the doctor's time and judgment, not a particular outcome.
Where can I fill the prescription?
Anywhere licensed. We send it to you by SMS and email, and to one of nine partner pharmacies if you pick one. We take no commission from any pharmacy and do not sell medicine ourselves.
Can you order a malaria test or blood work?
Yes — malaria parasite, full blood count, blood sugar, lipids, liver and kidney function, urinalysis and common STI panels, through two partner labs with home collection. You pay the lab directly. Going through the results with a doctor afterwards is free.
Who can see my medical records?
The doctor who treated you, and the clinical lead when a case is reviewed. Records are encrypted, held on servers in Nigeria under the NDPR, and never shared with employers, insurers or advertisers. Ask and we will email you the whole file as a PDF, or delete it.
Are consultations recorded?
No. Video and audio are never recorded or stored. The doctor types notes during the call, and those notes are what we keep.
Limits & safety
What if I need a doctor at 2 a.m.?
We are closed, and we would rather say that plainly than run a night shift badly. For an emergency call 112 or the Lagos line 767 and go to the nearest hospital. Send us a message and we will pick it up when we open at 8.
What can you not treat over video?
Emergencies, anything needing a physical examination or a scan, controlled drugs and opioid painkillers, antenatal care past twenty weeks, babies under three months with fever, and fitness-to-work certificates that require an in-person check. The full list is on the home page.
Will you prescribe antibiotics if I ask?
Only where they are clinically justified, and not for a viral illness however firmly you ask. If the answer is no, the doctor will explain why and tell you what to watch for. This is not us being difficult — resistance is a real problem in Nigeria.
Do you cover anywhere outside Lagos?
The consultation works anywhere in Nigeria with a phone signal. Pharmacy delivery and home lab collection only work in Lagos. Outside Lagos you can still use the prescription at any licensed pharmacy near you.
Something went wrong. Who do I complain to?
Write to complaints@betalyfe.com.ng. Halima acknowledges within one working day and the clinical lead replies within five. If you are still unhappy, you can take it to the MDCN, and we will give you the doctor's folio number to do it.
Nothing matches that yet. Try a simpler word — or ask us directly.
If this is an emergency, close this page
Chest pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, a seizure, a limp or unresponsive child, or thoughts of harming yourself — call 112 or Lagos 767 and go to the nearest hospital. We cannot help with any of these, and waiting for us could cost you.
Question number twenty-one?
Send it over. We answer every message within one working day, and we will not pretend to know something we do not.
